Self-Funded MEC Plans

 

The affordable care act forced all employers with at least 50 employees (FTEs) to purchase insurance coverage or face steep penalties. For employers who were unable to afford traditional benefits the market responded by offering Minimum Essential Coverage (MEC) plans. These plans help employers avoid penalties for a very affordable cost.
